What I learned about my Italian “Hairitage” – Beauty secrets from my Mom

*Thank you, Pantene, for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

I’m so excited I got the opportunity to partner with Pantene for the launch of their new Nutrient Blends Collection, which are all free of sulfates, parabens, dyes and mineral oil. I’ve been using Pantene since I was a teen, but I must say this new line is so amazing given the natural ingredients. This has become something that is really important to me when it comes to beauty.

Pantene challenged me to take an hour of self-care to make time for exploration and reflection to discover more about my “Hairitage.” The Pantene Nutrient Blends Collection is made from ingredients by cultures from all around the world. As a first-generation Italian, a lot of my beauty routine was influenced and inspired by my mom, Susan. She was born and raised in Italy from humble beginnings. My mom always instilled in me how valuable it is to take time for myself and that ties back to my Italian culture and how Italians value leisure. An Italian quote that I love “L’arte di non fare niente” which translates to The art of doing nothing is the essence of valuing time and leisure. My mom used olive oil on pretty much everything, and when I mean everything, I mean she would slather it on our skin for hydration and in our hair to make it shine. Italians literally bathe in olive oil, LOL!

She always taught me that less is more when it comes to all things beauty; whether it was skincare, makeup or hair care. She was always into natural beauty, which inspired my current beauty routine. My mom taught me that my inner beauty will always shine through and that I only needed products that enhanced what I already have. As a woman, this is such a gift and it really instilled confidence in me. I grew up watching my mom use very few products and even now, she is 63 and looks amazing! We always had the same routine growing up. We would wash and blow dry our hair on the same days. Then, when I started wearing makeup, my mom taught me not to apply so much. To this day, I don’t wear a lot of makeup and I use only minimal skincare products. I also limit my hair products, but I use ones that actually make my hair feel & smell clean and look silky smooth, which leads me to why I use Pantene. I love that Pantene asked me to be part of this campaign because I loved discovering more about my own “hairitage” and where I get all my beauty tips from. I’ve always been a minimalist whether it comes to my style, beauty, skincare and hair routine.

Pantene’s new Nutrient Blends Collection shampoo and conditioner is now part of my hair routine. I wash my hair every other day or every 2 days depending on my week, and the products I’ve been using are the Miracle Moisture Boost with Rose Water shampoo and conditioner which are sulfate free. They help soothe and hydrate my hair, taming frizz and restoring softness for that silky smooth hair on wash days. Rose water is super hydrating and since I color my hair, it tends to get dry so this collection is perfect for adding that hydration back into my hair. Not to mention the shampoo and conditioner smell so good! I love how my hair feels after washing. I left my hair straight in all the photos for you to see how well the products worked. After I wash and blow dry my hair, I often like to sit on my bed and take a moment to myself before I head out for the day.

The Boob-Window Trend Is All Over the Red Carpet From Sydney Sweeney to Chlöe

The boob window is the new trend in celebrity dressing making waves this year, both on and off the red carpet. As early as January, in fact, Lori Harvey stepped out to celebrate her 26th birthday in the LBD version of the look, flaunting an asymmetrical midi from The Attico with a chest cutout that circled her cleavage, and was further amplified by an attention-grabbing neck-tie sash. The outfits that follow often resemble halter silhouettes, although not all of these numbers boast a strap on each side. Sydney Sweeney is the latest style icon to give it a go, opting for a brown silk gown that she wore alongside model Izabel Goulart while vacationing in Ibiza. For a night out, the 25-year-old " Euphoria " star rocked her one-shoulder design with gold jewelry, dewy makeup, and her bright blonde hair in loose waves. The bodice of her dress was secured near her collar bone, where fabric from one side was pulled through a loop at the other, wrapping around to the back. The r...

Candice Huffine: "Size Does Not Equal Health, and Weight Does Not Equal Worth"

Image Source: Luvlette Born in Washington DC and raised in a Maryland suburb, Candice Huffine did a little bit of everything when she was growing up, from being captain of the cheerleading squad to taking her turn as a pageant queen. "It was 'typical' in a Hallmark movie kind of way, I guess," Huffine tells POPSUGAR. "These details are important to mention because they did influence my life path. I willingly put myself on a stage at every turn - and not always kind ones - to do the things I loved or to follow a dream I had." Huffine, 39, signed her first modeling contract in 2000. She was "determined" to be a model, despite the fashion industry being notoriously discriminatory toward plus-size people. Knowing the odds were stacked against her propelled Huffine even further toward realizing her dream. "When I received a contract as a plus-size model, it unlocked a new mission in me: to not pursue modeling just for myself, but to push har...

Diaper Shorts Are Back - How to Shop the Controversial TikTok Trend

Of all the street style trends to dominate our FYP and social media feeds in recent years, bloomer shorts seems to be the most bizarre (and ironically one of our top favorites) yet. And who do we have to thank for it? TikTok, of course. In a single scroll on the popular app, you've probably come across the piece multiple times, from those viral Miu Miu briefs to Aritzia's more affordable offerings. Slightly more flirty and risqué than the stomach pudge dress or the fisherman aesthetic , bloomer shorts (aka "diaper shorts") have officially made it to the top of the sartorial food chain. What Are Bloomer Shorts? While the idea of bloomer shorts may seem new or daunting at first, they're far from groundbreaking. Similarly to most trends, the good ol' "everything is new again" concept applies here, as the fad dates back to 1850 when the silhouette was invented as a practical solution for women's health and comfort - eventually grabbing the atten...
